Patient Update – April 24, 2020

Dear FTC Patients,

We have been actively monitoring COVID-19 developments in Arizona, and have followed recommendations from the CDC, the Arizona Departments of Health, ASRM, and our own experienced clinical and laboratory team. As always, our top priority is the health and safety of our patients and staff.

Effective Friday, May 1st 2020, we will initiate a safe re-start of treatment cycles at FTC. Patients undergoing the following cycle types may begin treatment at the onset of their next menses:

  • IVF
  • Fresh embryo transfer
  • Frozen embryo transfer (FET)
  • Donor egg IVF
  • Egg freezing
  • Intrauterine insemination (IUI)
  • Hysterosalpingogram (HSG)
  • Hysteroscopy

If you have not yet spoken to your Coordinator, and if you wish to initiate one of the above cycle types, please contact us at (480) 831-2445. Our team will review your protocol, medications, and pre-cycle checklist, and have you speak with a clinical team member to update your pre-cycle checklist.

We request that patients contact FTC on Day 1 of their menses. Please use our main number (480-831-2445) and our reception team will direct you to the appropriate clinical staff member.

To protect the safety of our patients and staff, we are observing social distancing measures including consent & calendar meetings for IVF via Zoom through our patient portal. Dr. Craig will continue telemedicine visits for new patients, follow-up consultations, lab test reviews, along with IUI treatment, IVF, FET, and Donor Cycle planning and reviews.

On-site Safety Protocol Updates
We have made extensive changes to our safety protocols to ensure that patients and staff remain safe at FTC.  The most noticeable changes to our facility are:

Face Masks:
We require that all of our patients please wear face protection while visiting our clinic. If you are given a mask at FTC, please keep this mask for all future visits.

Screening upon Entry:
Everyone entering the clinic will have their temperature measured and be screened for COVID-19 related symptoms and risk factors. We apologize for this required guideline intrusion.

Guest Policy:
To maintain social distancing and to minimize the number of individuals onsite, only the scheduled patient will be admitted to the facility. All patients entering the clinic must do so without visitors. Children are not permitted onsite. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Cycle Disruption Policy:
Cycles will be cancelled or suspended if a patient develops symptoms of illness or tests positive for COVID-19.

If cancellation or suspension occurs prior to egg retrieval, a credit balance will be issued in accordance with services rendered during the cycle. Credit balances will be established on a case-by-case basis. We are not able to extend credit toward products or services provided by third parties including but not limited to medications, phlebotomy, anesthesia, genetic testing, tissue storage fees, etc.

New Patient Consults
We will continue New Patient Appointments using telephone or video conferencing, with the option of follow-up in-office ultrasound. We anticipate resuming regular in-office visits in Mid-May, in accordance with local and state guidelines. To schedule your New Patient appointment, call (480) 831-2445.

We look forward to continuing your journey toward parenthood as soon as safely possible. These restrictions will be lifted as soon as we are released from CDC and ADHS guidelines.

Sincerely,
H. Randall Craig, MD, FACOG
