Jun Tao, PHD, HCLD
IVF & Andrology Laboratory Director
Dr. Tao is Board Certified by the American Board of Bioanalysis as a High Complexity Clinical Laboratory Director. He holds a Master’s Degree in Embryology and received his Ph.D. in Anatomy & Endocrinology from Indiana University. Dr. Tao completed his fellowship at the Reproductive Biology Laboratory at Methodist Hospital in Indiana.
Since joining FTC in the spring of 1999, Dr. Tao has brought tremendous leadership and innovation to our laboratory fertility programs. He introduced the concept of extended embryo culture and has also designed and patented a new embryo transfer catheter system, both of which have resulted in higher pregnancy rates.
Dr. Tao’s professional achievements include: First sperm injection pregnancy in Indiana. First ICSI pregnancy in Phoenix. First testicular biopsy combined with ICSI pregnancy in Phoenix. Recipient of the ARTA (Assisted Reproductive Technology/Andrology) International Award. First pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) pregnancy in Arizona. First human morula embryo cryopreservation and pregnancy in the world.
Dr. Tao is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the American Association of Bioanalysis. “Our unique freezing strategy has contributed to FTC’s very successful frozen embryo transfer (FET-IVF) program providing patients with a significant cost-saving option when compared to the high cost of repeated fresh IVF cycles.”
The embryologists at FTC, under Dr. Tao’s guidance, have achieved perfect scores in the College of American Pathologists’ Reproductive Lab Accreditation Program. This program is recognized as the most prestigious program of its type worldwide. FTC is very proud of this achievement, and believes that this distinction reflects our commitment to excellence.
Dr. Tao performed the first sperm injection in Indiana that resulted in pregnancy. He was also responsible for the first ICSI pregnancy and the first testicular biopsy/ICSI pregnancy in Phoenix. Dr. Tao performed the first PGD pregnancy in the state of Arizona as well.
Dr. Tao belongs to both the American Association of Bioanalysis and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.
